2011 THEME: Overcoming Critical Global Challenges with Modeling & Simulation
MODSIM World is a unique multi-disciplinary international conference for the exchange of modeling and simulation knowledge, research and technology across industry, government and academia.

Serious games and virtual worlds offer compelling opportunities to convey ideas, engage users, and improve human performance. Advances in design and development methods are resulting in effective systems across multiple domains of use – from training systems that significantly improve acquisition of knowledge and skills to virtual environments that facilitate effective distributed collaboration amongst professionals.
New technologies are enabling increasingly broad and affordable distribution – from global, interconnected online user communities to ubiquitous use on mobile devices. This track intends to challenge traditional perspectives in modeling and simulation, and to encourage dialog across disciplines and domains on how to best apply and extend serious games and virtual worlds.
We also invite position papers that outline current challenges faced in the acquisition, development and deployment of serious games and virtual worlds, and suggest approaches for addressing those challenges.
